Royal Family Foods Corporation was founded in 1985 and introduced the first Japanese mochi machine in Taiwan in 1992 after the discovery of the famous Japanese mochi. This was the beginning of the change from traditional to specialized production and the internationalization of mochi. Over time, the recipes have been adapted to the tastes of European and American consumers and are now available in a variety of fruity flavors in addition to the traditional red bean mochi. Stored at room temperature, the little treats are now also becoming increasingly popular outside of Chinese New Year.
